Series 1 Base
The Series 1 Base is a standard automation platform configured specifically for tabletop operation of our standard Applicator products. The Series 1 Base provides a common platform for mounting and alignment of any PL Series Applicator and a Nest/Fixture for locating your product as the adhesive component is applied. It includes a two-hand anti-tiedown control for Operator Safety and can be configured with additional optional guard hardware if required. In addition to standard Fixtures we can provide customized Fixtures that incorporate actuators or special devices to assist in presenting or aligning your product for assembly. The Series 1 Base is an excellent option for semi-automated production. The Applicator can easily be removed from the Series 1 Base and used in high-volume automation when production requirements exceed the capacity of the Series 1 Base.
Another option available for the Series 1 Base is the Light Curtain enclosure system. We have developed this Light Curtain option to provide customers with a safe system for semi-auto operation that allows the Operator to remain ‘hands free’ during the machine process.
E‐Tamp Module
Our ET200 Electric Tamp Module is available as a standard option on all of our PL100 and PL165 Applicator products. Key benefits of the ET200 include rapid acceleration and deceleration, digital control of the tamp motion profile, elimination of two pneumatic cylinders and associated sensors and flow controls, and reduced compressed air consumption. The ET200 is typically as fast as our pneumatic tamp but with significantly greater control of the motion profile including a ‘push’ move in which the ET200 approaches the target rapidly then decelerates and applies the adhesive component at a controlled rate until a force threshold, based on motor torque, is met. This eliminates the impact and vibration resulting from a fast moving pneumatic tamp actuator. Please contact us for additional info on this optional module.
SideScan Tamp
This module provides an additional axis of motion control to allow the Tamp to move on a horizontal plane. This module is typically used in applications in which the die- cut adhesive components may include variation in their position on the liner, in the non-feed or cross-web axis, that exceeds the allowable specifications for assembly. The Sidescan Tamp includes a sensor that is used to register the edge of the adhesive component so that the system can automatically correct for variation in that axis.
RT90 Tamp
This module is available for integration on PL100r and PL100EPr Feed Systems. It is intended for components up to 50 x 50mm in size. This module provides the unique function of removing the adhesive component from the liner on one plane and then rotating the adhesive component 90 degrees to reposition the adhesive component on a plane perpendicular to the peel surface with the exposed adhesive surface facing away from the vacuum chuck. The RT90 can be configured with various lengths of stroke up to 175mm. This configuration allows the PL100 unit to be mounted in the conventional orientation (horizontal plane) even though the adhesive component application surface is a vertical plane. See images and video for a demonstration.
RT180 Tamp
This module is available for integration on PL100r and PL100EPr Feed Systems. It is intended for components upto 50 x 50mm in size. This module provides the unique function of removing the adhesive component from the liner on one plane and then rotating the adhesive component 180 degrees to reposition the adhesive component in an ‘upside down’ orientation relative to the peel surface with the exposed adhesive surface facing away from the vacuum chuck. The RT180 can be configured with various lengths of stroke up to 60mm. This application may be useful when an adhesive component must be applied to the bottom surface of a substrate but mounting a PL Series unit with a Standard Tamp upside down may not be possible due to physical space constraints. See images and video for a demonstration.
Thermal Transfer Printer (‐TTP)
NSI offers Thermal Transfer Printer (TTP) Integration options for our PL Series of Applicators to provide an integrated print and apply system. Printer units with 4”, 6” or 8” web width capacities and 300 or 600 dpi (dots per inch) resolution are available. The –TTP integration is intended for applications that require the precision placement capabilities of our PL Applicators and when printing into a loop is acceptable.

For applications that require ‘just in time’ printing we offer our PR100i Applicator products.
Spare Parts
Our Applicator products are used in the most demanding applications worldwide. Our customers require rapid support including the ability to provide spare parts with minimal lead-time. Nautilus Systems Inc is constantly in production of our systems and therefore we maintain stock of all typical spare parts and can ship with minimal lead- time. Included with each machine shipment is a recommended spare parts list. Customers who demand maximum uptime of their systems can purchase and maintain spare parts on hand at their site to be able to respond quickly in instances that require a replacement of a component in an applicator. Typical spare parts requirements are minimal. Customers with multiple unit installations are adequately prepared by maintaining a minimal stock of spares on hand at their site.
Onsite Support
NSI personnel are available to travel to customer sites and locations to provide onsite support related to resolving issues or training your staff on operation of the equipment. Please contact us to discuss your onsite support requirements.
